A Brief History Spring Lake Golf Club has a distinguished history dating back to the 19th century. The Club was officially incorporated on August 20, 1898, in Monmouth County by a group of prominent eastern industrialists and local business leaders.  A new clubhouse was completed in 1916, and in 1917, the Club selected Albert Warren Tillinghast—one of the most respected architects of golf’s “Golden Age”— to redesign the course. Tillinghast designed more than sixty renowned golf courses, many of which are considered American classics. Since his work at Spring Lake, only minor adjustments to greens and bunkers have been made, preserving the architectural integrity of his original design.  Most recently, Spring Lake Golf Club
