The Catering Sales and Event Coordinator serves as an integral member of the Catering team by providing outstanding customer service and catering events in front of the house management. The Catering Sales and Event Coordinator targets and coordinates catering sales efforts. The job involves initiation and development of quality leads to ensure growth of catering sales. This position will meet with clients, determine needs, coordinate staff, direct set up and service of catering events, troubleshoot issues that arise and consistently provide customer service to clients and guests through the entire process. The primary responsibility of the Catering Sales and Event Coordinator is to develop existing business and solicit new catering business through catering lead generation and catering sales marketing. The Catering Sales and Event Coordinator's other important duties include booking, selling, planning, and coordinating all special social events while assuring the highest level of customer service. Generating revenue, establishing new accounts, monitoring booking space, booking repeat business while keeping quality consistently high, conducting catering sales presentations and catering sales. The Catering Sales and Event Coordinator strives to provide a safe and inviting, catering experience for our guests with healthful food choices, sustainability practices, and quality service in a manner that promotes the diversity, growth, and education of our students, staff, faculty, and guests.

Minimum Required Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in hospitality, hotel/restaurant management, food systems management, business, hotel/restaurant management and/or equivalent education/experience. Two years of event management experience, equivalent experience considered. Experience leading and supervising a team. Proven ability to provide excellent customer service. Experience managing multiple projects. Knowledge and or experience of budget management. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Knowledge of personal computers, word processing, spreadsheets, e-mail and the Internet. Ability to learn catering ordering and billing systems, food ordering systems, menu planning systems, etc. Health Department Food Safety Training – provided by the University. Must have a valid driver's license and meet University driver eligibility requirements. Typical catering food operation environment. Varied hours based on the workload at hand. Performs office/management work but may also have to serve food or carry containers of food while setting up events. Managing the operation requires a good deal of standing and walking. Position is around and works with food, where attention to food safety and health issues is paramount.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience working in the catering and restaurant industry with knowledge in planning and executing a variety of large catered events. Experience with human resources, training, budget and or business development helpful. Food safety experience helpful.
