The Senior Associate Director of Catering and Event Sales reports to the Assistant Vice Provost of Stanford Dining, Hospitality & Auxiliaries (SDHA,) and manages all day-to-day activities related to the catering and event sales function with a focus on building long-term, value-based customer relationships that enable achievement of SDHA sales objectives.This position is responsible for achieving catering and event sales goals tied to the overall performance of the SDHA off premise catering department and event venues. The individual will serve as the main point of contact with the client throughout the preplanning, execution, and post-event phases by collaborating effectively and in a timely manner with the operational teams to ensure a high level of service. Duties also include host venue tours, contract development, maintaining strong customer relationships, leading event sales meetings, and working as a collaborative team member with the operations and culinary events staff.
This role is designated as essential and requires incumbents to report to work onsite. Telecommuting is not available for this role.
JOB PURPOSE:
Provide management and coordination of administrative and operations-related functions for an organization or program. Manage staff at least 50% of the time to achieve goals and objectives. May manage service center with responsibility for overall success.
CORE DUTIES:
*Manage staff in the day-to-day operations for functional area(s) of responsibility. Responsible for hiring and retaining staff, career coaching, personal development for direct reports and accountable for the performance of employees. Ensure work completion within schedule and constraints.
*May independently or in collaboration with human resources managers, guide supervisors in the interpretation and implementation of human resources policies, procedures, and programs.
*Evaluate business plans and processes for operational and/or financial effectiveness. Analyze and resolve complex issues and provide alternative solutions, as necessary. May lead process improvement for immediate unit or program. Influence leadership on specific recommendations for current operations and future development.
*Analyze needs and make recommendations to leadership for changes in staffing, facilities, health and safety compliance, finance, technology and/or administrative functions.
*Interpret, implement, and ensure compliance with university administrative policies and procedures. Recommend new internal policies, guidelines, and procedures.
*Manage the finances for area(s) of responsibility which includes developing, monitoring, analyzing, forecasting, and reporting on the annual budget.
*Represent the department or program's business operations and administrative affairs within the organization/school and/or outside constituencies.
*Develop and implement sales strategies to achieve sales targets and maximize revenue.
*Identify, solicit, book new and repeat business through various sales efforts while maximizing utilization of event space to meet/exceed department revenue goals.
*Arrange and conduct special events, site inspections, and presentations for potential clients. Entertain clients in accordance with established policies and guidelines.
*Maximize food, beverage, and auxiliary revenues by selling menus, themes, and experiences/activities.
*Model R&DE culture, vision, mission, and core values. Support R&DE DEIB program goals and objectives.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
Education & Experience:
Bachelor's degree and five years of relevant experience in administrative and financial management, or combination of education and relevant experience.

Desired Qualifications:
*Progressive high-volume Catering or Event sales experience with a catering company, full-service hotel, or restaurant event sales experience, marketing, or related professional experience.
*A strong desire and passion to provide exceptional hospitality in a fast-paced environment.
*Must be very detail-oriented and organized.
*Requires schedule flexibility, including the ability to work weekends, nights, and/or holidays.
*Experience in accurate forecasting, and preparation of sales plans and financial reports.
*Must possess excellent communication skills in terms of the ability to negotiate, sell and influence customers.

The expected pay range for this position is $90K to $112K per annum( $43.27-$53.85 / hour).
