JOB PURPOSE:
Initiate and drive Group hotel room sales and SLAC Campus catering sales by developing Sales and Marketing programs, community outreach, strategic client sourcing and revenue driving sales techniques. Goal oriented with strong financial, budgetary and Pro-Forma development to exceed sales targets, revenue projections and forecasts. Interacts with multiple departments across the university to plan and lead small and large scale group activities including developing of successful repeat client relationships. Represents R&DE at the SLAC campus as a resource and subject matter expert in group room sales, catering and conference event planning.
CORE DUTIES*:
Demonstrates ability to effectively manage multiple events, clients, activities, scope out event planning tasks/team assignments and guide individuals to create work plans and schedules, monitor progress, and meet customer service expectations and milestones.
Oversee the management of event, directing staff and/or production consultants to produce quality, multi-faceted events to provide a high touch customer experience.
Establish and maintain relationships with internal, external university partners and SLAC.
Act as R&DE ambassador, demonstrate culture of excellence and core values at cross-departmental project meetings.
Operate as Group sales Manager for the Stanford Guesthouse and Catering Event Manager on deliverables, program metrics, and status reports, exceeding clients' expectations.
Holds weekly planning meetings across Catering, SLACafe and Guest House support teams, work cross-departmentally to prepare and manage complex program budgets, coordinates culinary planning. (JCI: Responsible for budget planning and management, venue management and equipment and facilities management for specific events)
Recommend and schedule events into appropriate campus approved venues.
Oversee registration strategy and logistics.
May hire and oversee support staff, students and contingent event staff.
Train and supervise junior event planners in proper execution and implementation of events.
Manage the group room sales activities, requests, and field potential clients or conference planners
May inspect event facilities for maintenance, janitorial and fire safety issues, ensuring enforcement of Environmental Health and Safety and other facility regulations. Arrange for correction if issues are found.
Exceed occupancy allocations of guest rooms in conjunction with SLAC needs and Stanford Guest Room reservations
Meet, interact with clients, host client events and tours

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
Education & Experience:
Bachelor's degree and three years of relevant experience or combination of education and relevant experience.
Hotel group sales experience desired
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Superior project and event management skills.
Ability to interact and manage a diverse clientele and direct staff, effectively managing deadlines and ensure the highest level of standards.
Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
Demonstrated experience with complex event or group rooms budgets requiring excellent financial and analytical skills.
Extreme attention to detail and deadlines; ability to prioritize and manage complex workflows and proforma development.
Excellent communication, time management, and customer service skills. Must be well organized and detailed oriented.
Ability to meet guest room group sales targets and catering/conference goals working through formal and informal channels, with diplomacy and tactfulness.
Demonstrated high level of confidence in making customer centric interactions, ability to exercise strategic decisions, good judgment, and innovative and creative problem-solving skills.
Knowledge of Microsoft Office suite, File Maker Pro and knowledge of cloud applications such as Google Docs and Forms.
Ability to interact and successfully collaborate with a broad spectrum of contributing groups and customers.
Certifications and Licenses:
Valid Non-Commercial Class California Driver's License.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS*:
Frequently stand/walk, sit, perform desk-based computer tasks, and use a telephone.
Occasionally kneel/crawl, twist/bend/stoop/squat, grasp lightly/fine manipulation, and grasp forcefully, lift/carry/push/pull objects that weigh 21-40 pounds.
Ability to obtain and maintain a California Non-commercial Class license and drive day or night.

WORKING CONDITIONS:
May require some travel and working evenings and weekends.
