![]() Student Services Officer International Relations Program Stanford University Note: Not all unique aspects of the job are covered by this job description PROGRAM SUMMARY: The Program in International Relations (IR) is one of the largest undergraduate majors within the School of Humanities & Sciences. International Relations is comprised of an interdisciplinary major, minor, and honors program, and graduates roughly 60-70 students per year. IR is one of 14 programs/centers within the Stanford Global Studies (SGS) division. Interested candidates should upload a cover letter and resume in addition to the online application. JOB PURPOSE: Reporting to the Associate Director for the IR Program, the IR Student Services Officer is responsible for all student services aspects of the IR program, including the IR major, minor, and honors program. In partnership with the Associate Director, the IR SSO is expected to focus on all student services related activities for this engaging academic program, including, but not limited to: advising students and monitoring degree progress; coordinating the course petition process; monitoring foreign language and overseas studies requirements; planning and advertising courses, special seminars, and social events; managing the program's website, newsletter, and social media; assisting with the administration of the IR honors program and the Summer Research College program; and preparing for IR commencement activities. On occasion, the IR Student Services Officer will be called upon to collect data and assist in preparing reports for strategic planning and accreditation. This position is multi-faceted and dynamic. Candidates should be self-starters, comfortable with autonomy, possess strong communication skills, and be willing to embrace opportunities to shape programmatic initiatives and to work with the Associate Director to drive these initiatives to completion. The successful candidate should have experience with providing student services in a higher education setting; preference given to a candidate with demonstrated Stanford experience. CORE DUTIES*:
