DUTIES: - Responsible for the day-to-day analysis and processing of applications and IRB events associated with research projects for SUNY Downstate Medical Center. - Responsible for the preliminary review, processing and preparation of research study applications submitted to the IRB; the preparation and distribution of IRB letters to Investigators; maintenance of appropriate records and files of IRB activities and studies, in accordance with federal and state regulations. - Provide support and client service to IRB members, investigators, and the research community. - Help ensure regulatory compliance of IRB related activities. - Serve as IRB Members on the IRB Committee to review, deliberate, vote on the approval of research protocols, and recommend necessary modifications to protocols needed to further protect the rights and welfare of research participants and carry out delegated responsibilities of the IRB Chair. - Help ensure regulatory compliance of the human research protection program and all IRB related activities. - Carry out process improvement activities and responsible for other IRB administrative functions. - Maintain broad knowledge of all Federal and State regulations, accreditation standards, and local DMC policies pertining to human research, including but not limited to FDA, OHRP, OCR, NIH, CMS, DOD, DOE, NYS Public Health, NYS Civil Rights Laws, NYSDOE, NYSDOH, and AAHRP. - Assist with the updating and managing information of the IR website. - Assist wih the evaluation and implementation of new IRB software and associated policies and processes. - Other related duties as required. (DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES ARE NOT LIMITED TO THE ABOVE POSITION DESCRIPTION) QUALIFICATIONS: REQUIRED: Bachelor's Degree. Must have Institutional Review Board (IRB) experience. PREFERRED: Master of Science, CIP Certification.
