The Manager of Catering Events, is a full time position and reports directly to the Dean of Culinary Arts / Director of Food Service. The Manager of Catering Events will be responsible to solicit and coordinate catering events and facility usage and supervise the day-to-day operations of cashiers in the food service department. This position will work with customers to provide catering services on and off campus, provide information to clients regarding details of conferences and events such as room diagrams, AV Equipment needs, and timelines. Provide information to clients regarding details of conferences and events such as room diagrams, AV Equipment needs, and timelines, promote and solicit college catering services to the community for both corporate and social functions, prepare catering contracts as well as facility and equipment rental agreements, assuring compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and institutional policies, work with customers to ensure that all logistical arrangements are mutually agreed upon, revise contracts as necessary to reflect changes and offer refunds if necessary, and provide information to clients and campus staff regarding room scheduling, dates, time and location of events, room arrangements, and equipment needs to the facilities and audio visual departments.
Five years of progressively responsible management and supervision experience in a retail or hospitality industry. Demonstrated business development and sales growth achievement.Previous experience supervising, coaching and mentoring assigned personnel.Food handler’s permit or ability to obtain one within 90 days from hire date.Washington State Liquor Control Board Class 12 permit or ability to obtain one within 90 days from hire date.Valid driver’s license and a safe driving record.Excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication skills using the English language. Ability to work in a fast paced environment and work effectively under pressure.Effective oral communications skills; pleasant telephone manner.Experience with automated POS systems.
